The No. 10 Phoenix College softball team continued its strong run in conference play, earning a doubleheader sweep over Glendale Community College on March 24 with wins of 5-3 and 2-0.
In Game 1, the Bears used a fast start and balanced offense to secure a 5-3 victory.
Phoenix College jumped out early, scoring three runs in the first inning and adding two more across the second and third to build a 5-0 lead. Katelyn Larney and Olivia Deford each recorded RBIs, while Gianna Baca, Harli Noriega, and Mckayla Ethington also contributed offensively as the Bears totaled 10 hits.
Glendale responded with three runs late, but the Bears held their ground. Aubree Lovo earned the win, allowing three runs over five innings, and Julianna Nava closed it out with two scoreless innings to earn the save.
In Game 2, Phoenix College leaned on dominant pitching to complete the sweep with a 2-0 shutout victory.
Harli Noriega once again led the offense, going 3-for-3 with a home run that accounted for both runs in the game. The Bears added six hits overall while staying aggressive on the basepaths.
In the circle, Maddison Peter was outstanding, tossing a complete-game shutout while allowing just one hit and striking out six to secure the win.
With the sweep, Phoenix College moves to 28-4 overall, 22-4 in conference.
