The Phoenix College women's basketball team has put together an impressive first half of the 2025–26 season, climbing to third place in conference standings while posting a 6–7 overall record and a 3–2 mark in conference play. Behind a balanced production, the Bears have established themselves as one of the conference's more consistent teams entering the midpoint of the season.
Freshman Jada Wilson has been a steady force on both ends of the floor and continues to rank among the conference leaders. Wilson sits 11th in conference scoring, averaging 13.5 points per game, while also ranking 8th in rebounding and 5th in steals per game, highlighting her all-around impact. Her ability to score, defend, and control the glass has been central to Phoenix College's conference success.
On the perimeter, Mya Ruiz has emerged as one of the league's most reliable shooters, ranking 8th in the conference in three-point percentage. Her shooting has helped stretch defenses and create opportunities for the Bears' interior and driving game. Phoenix College has also emphasized team basketball, averaging 14.0 assists per game in conference play while outscoring league opponents at 63.2 points per game.
The Bears have also benefited from the leadership of Steffy Cervantes, whose defensive intensity and ability to attack the rim have set the tone on both ends of the floor. Cervantes consistently applies pressure at the point of attack, creates downhill drives, and brings a steady presence that has helped guide Phoenix College through key stretches of conference play.
Rebounding and defensive intensity have been key pillars of the Bears' identity, as Phoenix College has controlled the boards and forced turnovers throughout conference play. With a strong home presence and growing confidence on the road, the Bears are positioned well as the season shifts into its second half.
Now sitting third in the conference, Phoenix College will look to maintain momentum and continue climbing the standings as conference play resumes, beginning with a road matchup at Chandler-Gilbert.
